Stephen J McCasey apprenticed in architecture under the guidance of the late B. Napier Simpson Jr, a prominent North American restoration architect and heritage advocate. Apprenticeship under Mr. McCasey in classical detailing expertise includes the study of harmony, form and proper proportion from texts such as  "De architectura" written in the 1st century by the Roman architect and engineer Vitruvius,  and the British architect James Gibbs who published "A Book of Architecture" in 1728.
